In this new five-part series, writer D.A. Navoti welcomes readers of all ages to consider the pains of growing up. Tonight’s program focuses on parenthood.

ABOUT THE CURATOR:

D.A. Navoti is a member of the Gila River Indian Community and a nonfiction and poetic prose writer. His work has appeared in Homology Lit, Spartan, Indian Country Today, Cloudthroat, and elsewhere. He produces the literary series We the Indigenous and co-created Fight For Our Lives, a reading series supporting communities targeted by divisive politics. He is a 2020 Radical Imagination grant recipient from the NDN Collective and was a 2020 CityArtist from the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. Navoti lives in occupied Duwamish territory (Seattle, WA). Visit his website www.danavoti.com.

Fundraiser plant sale

Hi friends!

Our fifth annual plant sale fundraiser is Saturday, May 8th, from 9-3ish to raise money for our #LFWalkSeattle team!

We will still be following strict social distancing guidelines. Only 3-4 people will be allowed in the driveway at a time. Masks are required, vaccinated or not. Also encouraging cashless payment options if at all possible (Venmo, Paypal, ca$h, etc.)

Plant prices vary based on plant variety and size, but all bareroot dahlias are only $5/each this year!! Some quantities are quite limited. In addition to dahlias, we have strawberries, forsythia, ferns, geranium, columbine, daylilies, irises, heuchera, bergenia, snowballs, groundcovers, succulents, houseplants, and more!

Also, special guests Winfield Designs will be on site with some of their beautiful metal art, and they will donate a percentage of sales to our team! Check out their Etsy site for a sampling of their work: https://etsy.me/1mEuxh8

Create characters from your recycling bin. Build puppets out of paper towel rolls, egg containers, and other recyclables. We’ll then share our characters’ stories.

Traditional Bollywood dancing has been heavily influenced by Asian culture, Hindu art, music, and culture. Today Bollywood music and dancing is also influenced by other cultures and forms of dance including salsa and hip-hop. Join us for a fun class where we’ll dance to Bollywood hit songs from different eras and learn about the inspiration behind the songs.
