Create characters from your recycling bin. Build puppets out of paper towel rolls, egg containers, and other recyclables. We’ll then share our characters’ stories.

Supplies needed: packing or duct tape, clean recyclables (egg cartons, milk or juice cartons, cereal boxes), markers, scissors, glue and construction paper.

Learn dances featured in films from India – the largest moviemaking capital in the world. Bollywood is the Hindi-language sector of the Indian movingmaking industry. Traditional Bollywood dancing has been heavily influenced by Asian culture, Hindu art, music, and culture. Today Bollywood music and dancing is also influenced by other cultures and forms of dance including salsa and hip-hop. Join us for a fun class where we’ll dance to Bollywood hit songs from different eras and learn about the inspiration behind the songs.

Webinar: City of Seattle Earthquake Response: Overview of Response Priorities and Coordination @ Online (see listing)
May 27 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Seattle Office of Emergency Management staff will provide an overview of our region’s earthquake risk, likely earthquake impacts, and describe what a local government response to a catastrophic earthquake looks like. This will include an overview of citywide response priorities and coordination, how the city communicates emergency information to the public, and key preparedness actions the public can take before an earthquake happens.
Future webinars in this series will provide more detail on specific areas of response, including firefighting, search and rescue, utility restoration, transportation restoration, and emergency shelter and feeding.
