Winter Wander Along Longfellow Creek at Camp Long.
Longfellow Creek is a major waterway in West Seattle. It is also a little piece of the wild in the middle of the city. Coho salmon migrate up this waterway; beavers build dams and lodges on this creek; owls hunt for food along this artery. Explore a portion of this urban wilderness with a Seattle Urban Nature Guide. Look for seasonal changes and get to know some of your wild neighbors.
Be prepared to do some hiking over uneven terrain on this program.
Ages 6 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Homeless and at-risk Veterans and their families are invited to attend The Ninth Annual Seattle Stand Down–a two-day, one-stop shop for resources and services available to Veterans who currently lack permanent housing or simply need a “hand up” in order to prevent homelessness. (This event is hosted by The Seattle Stand Down, a volunteer team of veterans dedicated to supporting veterans experiencing homelessness.)
Representatives from local businesses, non-profits, educational institutions, and all levels of government will be there with volunteers to provide medical screenings, eye exams, dental services, legal aid, employment opportunities, housing assistance, case management referrals, haircuts, personal hygiene items, and meals.
Providers offering services specifically for women Veterans, including health care, advocacy, counseling, employment, and personal care, will also be on site.
Services and resources will be provided at several locations throughout the South Seattle College Georgetown Campus, including the Gene Colin Education Hall–Building C. Parking passes will be made available to veterans receiving services. For more information about transportation, see The Seattle Stand Down Transportation page.

This means that veterans with any one of the ID forms listed below can travel on any Metro bus, Sound Transit bus, the LINK light rail, and the Sounder train.

Enjoy a unique Salish Sea adventure. Bring a flashlight and join a Seattle Urban Nature Guide at Me-Kwa-Mooks beach for a captivating urban nature outing/tidepool exploration at night. Program starts at Emma Schmitz Viewpoint. Please wear shoes that can get wet and handle slippery surfaces and dress for the weather.
Ages 18 and up. Everyone attending must be registered for the program.

Learn proactive tips and step you can take to enhance your personal safety in courses taught by female Seattle Police officers and employees.
In this class, you will learn:
- the important role your instincts and gut reactions can play
- how to identify and avoid potentially dangerous situations
- how to make a safety plan
- how to decrease the odds of becoming a victim.
This class features facilitated discussions and lectures about crime and public safety. It is not a self-defense class.
This class is open to women of all ages and is most appropriate for young women who are at least 14 years of age.
This class is not appropriate for children and children should not attend.
