“Bless those who curl themselves around our hearts, who twine themselves through our days, who companion us in our labor and who call us to come and play.
-from the Litany of Blessing
Bring your pet(s) for St. John the Baptist’s annual community-wide St. Francis’ Day Blessing of the Animals on the West Seattle High School parking lot. The Rev. Kate E. Wesch will preside at the brief service and then, with Brother Paul Dahlke, OSF, will be blessing the animals.
This year will be a little different due to the pandemic, but never fear, we will be here! There are two options. Stay in your car, and Rev. Kate and Brother Paul will come to you, or stand in the parking lot maintaining appropriate social distancing and with faces covered (pets are not required to cover their faces.) We will collect contact information for those who choose to stand outside for contact tracing purposes, and are required to keep these records for three weeks. Please have your pet on a leash or in a carrier.
