Here’s the schedule for the 2019 season. All hikes start at 10:00 am.
May 4: Insect hike with a bug club member.
July 6: Native plant identification with Steve Richmond of GardenCycles
August 3: Geology and land use history with Paul West and Craig Rankin
September 7: History of the greenbelt with Matt Groshong, Randy Nelson, and Craig Rankin
October 5: Mushrooms with Kim Traverse of the Puget Sound Myco Society
Tot Trek and Nature Play–Fall Forest Frolic at Camp Long.
Ages 2-3 with an Adult. Pre-registration required.
Single Ticket: $150, Full Event, Reception and Catered Lunch Followed by Live Auction
Banquet lunch begins at 12:30pm
Live Northwest Art Auction at 1:00 pm
Closing remarks at 2:30 pm
Survive and Thrive is a 3-hour disaster preparedness workshop for business owners and managers, providing:
- Hands-on exercises for learning personal and professional survival skills
- Guidance and tips for creating crisis preparedness plans for home and business.
Join us for spooky stories and a craft at the Southwest Library! Listen to spooky stories, sing silly songs, and decorate your own a trick-or-treat bag (complete with your first piece of candy!). This program is intended for children 0-8 and their caregivers.
Library events and programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required. Story times are some of our most popular events! Please come early to make sure you get a seat. Due to the fire code, we can’t exceed the maximum capacity for our rooms.

The Shorewood Elementary PTA Holiday Bazaar is being held on Saturday, November 9th from 10 am-4 pm at Shorewood Elementary School (2725 SW 116th St, Burien) – it is a longstanding community event with a strong following.
This event not only features over 60 artist-vendors, but it is so much more!
– Used Book Sale (a buck a book)
– Food trucks
– Bake Sale
– Photos with Santa (suggested donation)
– And Admission is FREE
All proceeds from this event benefit the Shorewood Elementary School PTA, which provides library, classroom and field trip support, as well as fun activities for the students.

Be prepared to do some hiking over uneven terrain on this program.
