National Parks Concert at Benaroya Hall @ Benaroya Hall

The Northwest Symphony Orchestra (featuring West Seattleite Anthony Spain as conductor ) will collaborate with Washington’s National Parks to provide a spectacular visual and musical presentation/concert for the Seattle/West Seattle area. This is a unique and innovative concert that promises to be great fun for families.

The concert will  include The Musical Mountaineers (as featured on KOMO 4, KING 5 Television, and  in the October 2019 issue of Seattle Magazine).

The concert is scheduled to include:

  • An Outdoor Overture by Aaron Copland
  • Mount Takhoma (Mount Rainier) by Gregory Short
  • Selections with choirs/students from Highline School District

‘Museum of Fright’ Halloween event @ Museum of Flight
Oct 27 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

On Oct. 27 kids can trick-or-treat through Seattle’s biggest Halloween haunted house, the Museum of Fright, where the world of flight becomes a spooky site. The Aviation Learning Center will be transformed into Frankenstein’s Lab, the always mysterious Blackbird spyplane will loom over an obstacle course, while the World Wars galleries in the Personal Courage Wing take on new meanings. Family carnival-style games and activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Costumes are encouraged.

Costumed children under age 18 are free, or $5 without a costume. Admission for adults accompanying children under age 18 is $10. Discounted admission is only available on-site and cannot be purchased online.

An informal, inclusive progressive social group.

Drinking Liberally is an organization with chapters across the country. It gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics, or whatever. You don’t need to be a policy expert and this isn’t a book club – just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it’s not taboo to talk politics. The Art of Music – November @ Great American Diner & Bar

The Art of Music is a series of performances by musicians presented by the West Seattle Junction Association (partial funding by: Seattle Office of Arts & Culture) and scheduled to take place on, and complement, Second Thursday Art Walk evenings.

The fourth performance in the series will take place on Thursday, November 14 at the Great American Diner and Bar (4752 California Avenue SW) from 6:00 – 7:40 pm, and features Byron Street Swing — hot club jazz and early French swing music. BYRON STREET SWING is a quartet performing in the Seattle area; born from a love of gathering for jams to play the songs of Django Reinhardt and other Gypsy Jazz masters of today. Enjoy music, art on display, and specials offered by participating businesses in the Junction during the same evening!

A jam by local musicians will perform traditional and contemporary bluegrass music every third Sunday of the month. Musicians change each session. First Tuesday every month, 6 pm. Pizzeria 22 is at College Street and California Ave SW in Admiral.

An informal, inclusive progressive social group.

Drinking Liberally is an organization with chapters across the country. It gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics, or whatever. You don’t need to be a policy expert and this isn’t a book club – just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it’s not taboo to talk politics. Consumption of alcohol is not required and our location is all ages.

Winter Wander Along Longfellow Creek @ Camp Long

Winter Wander Along Longfellow Creek at Camp Long.

Longfellow Creek is a major waterway in West Seattle. It is also a little piece of the wild in the middle of the city. Coho salmon migrate up this waterway; beavers build dams and lodges on this creek; owls hunt for food along this artery. Explore a portion of this urban wilderness with a Seattle Urban Nature Guide. Look for seasonal changes and get to know some of your wild neighbors.

Be prepared to do some hiking over uneven terrain on this program.

Ages 6 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Everyone attending the program must be registered.

A jam by local musicians will perform traditional and contemporary bluegrass music every third Sunday of the month. Musicians change each session.
