Climate-change panel discussion: What you can do @ Our Lady of Guadalupe Walmesley Center
Oct 1 @ 7:00 pm

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, Gene Duvernoy, founder and CEO emeritus of Forterra, will lead a panel of experts and policy leaders in a discussion of what individuals need to do to help protect our environment and deal with climate change. It will be held at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Walmesley Center, 7000 35th Ave. SW. The public is invited.

The event is hosted by the joint Green Ministry of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Holy Rosary parishes to celebrate the Season of Creation, Sept. 1-Oct. 4.

Duvernoy founded Forterra (then called Cascade Land Conservancy) in 1989 in his attic. It now has offices in Seattle and Tacoma and in the last 30 years, working with a number of partners, has conserved more than 250,000 acres of land in Washington, about four times the land in the city limits of Seattle. Duvernoy was chosen to lead Earth Day Northwest 2020 by Denis Hayes, president and CEO of the Bullitt Foundation, who was the national organizer of the first Earth Day in 1970.
