The West Seattle Symphony Orchestra is pleased to present 19th Century Pops, featuring works of Beethoven and Rossini. Beethoven’s 2nd Symphony in D major has a humorous and happy air, and will be paired with bel canto arias, and the Overture to Rossini’s “Thieving Magpie”. Irresistible melodies abound in a program that blurs the line between classical and popular music.

This enchanting evening will be brought to life under the direction of Dr. Anna Wittstruck, who joins us from the University of Puget Sound where she is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Orchestra. She has conducted in some of central Europe’s most prestigious halls and across the United States and Asia, and in Latin America. We’re honored to have her with us for the exciting finale to a very special season!

Dr. Dawn Padula, mezzo-soprano, and featured vocalist of these flowing arias, is Director of Vocal Studies at UPS, and has acclaimed performance experience in opera and live concerts.
