West Seattle Symphony Orchestra Features Guest Soloist Jessica Polin on March 28th:

Local musicians gather together to perform “Concert of Classics”, Friday, March 28 7:30 pm at Chief Sealth International High School. The concert, under the direction of Kim Roy, will be free and open to the public. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.

The concert will feature favorite classical orchestra works including Rimsky-Korsakov’s Symphoniette on Russian Themes, enchanting music from Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdink, and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville Overture which many will recognize by its famous melodies. The evening also includes the WSCO Brass and Percussion Ensemble performing a rousing rendition of Battle Hymn.

The highlight of the evening features locally renowned musician, Jessica Polin, flute soloist, performing Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G Major.

Northwest native and Seattle flutist Jessica Polin holds the second flute and piccolo position with the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra. In the Seattle area, she performs regularly with the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, and Seattle Modern Orchestra. Jessica has been a guest soloist with the Lake Chelan Bach Festival Orchestra, the Tacoma Young Artists Orchestra, the University of Washington Symphony Orchestra, and Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra. Additionally, Jessica was a guest artist on the Seattle Symphony’s [untitled] series in 2013.

Jessica holds degrees from Arizona State University and the University of Washington. While studying at UW, Jessica was a 2010 winner of the UW Concerto Competition. An active music educator, Jessica maintains a studio on Bainbridge Island at the Island Music Guild, and is an instructor at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho.
