The weekly free tasting at West Seattle Cellars (WSB sponsor):

Thursday, May 31, 5:30 to 8:00 – June Collector’s Club Wines, plus two Bonus Wines
We’ve come up with another fun line-up this month. You’ll notice that most of the wines are from a little closer to home this time-not a plan but it turned out to be a bit of a theme. And tasty wines all! Come and give them a try this Thursday. Our line-up:

Cedergreen, Sauvignon Blanc – A long-time shop favorite for its crisp, clean flavor, and recent winner of the “Oyster Award” at the 2012 Pacific Coast Oyster Wine Competition.
Brian Carter, Oriana – A lovely, aromatic blend of two Rhône grapes: Viognier and Roussanne, with a touch of Riesling. Brian Carter is a master of blending, and that is in full evidence in this always popular wine.
Les Vignerons d’Estézargues, Les Génestas – A single-vineyard Rhône blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Traditional in style, with smooth, spicy flavors.
Oller del Mas, Petit Bernat – A huge hit at a recent tasting, this Spanish wine is based on Picapoll Negre, though it is listed as Cab Franc on the label (long story). Very complex and flavorful!
Odisea, Tempranillo – This Tempranillo is made from clones from the Ribera del Duero, at a small, Napa-based winery. It is smooth, rich, and velvety-textured.
Angel Vine, Primitivo – Oregon winery makes wine from Italian version of Zinfandel, with fruit grown in Washington. It only sounds confusing. It’s a winner!

Bonus Wines: As always, we’ll open a couple of extra wines to make it an even eight:
NW Wine Academy, Rosé – It’s Rosé season folks, and here’s one made from Nebbiolo, Mourvédre, Cinsault, Cabernet Franc by the wine program at South Seattle Community College. In fact, it was made by Cassie’s class!
Cedergreen Chenin Blanc – Since we’re tasting Cedergreen’s Sauv Blanc, let’s try the Chenin as well. Made in the style of a Loire Chenin-very fresh and invigorating.
