Seattle Mayor candidates forum on homelessness

September 29, 2021 @ 12:00 pm ā€“ 1:00 pm

The City of Seattle has the 18th largest population in the United States, yet has the third highest number of individuals experiencing homelessness, with over 10,000 people.

The present discussion around the topic of homelessness is at its most contentious point in recent memory. Exacerbated by the pandemic and the subsequent impacts to the shelter system, the prevalence of unsheltered homelessness and its increased visibility has fueled a noticeable rise in tension around the subject and a public yearning for a governmental solution. The next Mayor will arguably be decided based on their stance toward folks experiencing homelessness and their policies for housing displaced individuals in our community.

In this special event hosted by Resolution to End Homelessness, we will be joined by the 2021 Mayoral finalists of the City of Seattle– Lorena Gonzalez & Bruce Harrell — to discuss the most urgent issue facing our region. We will hear their thoughts about the state of homelessness and their proposals for policies that will ensure that every person in our region has access to adequate housing. This event is open to the public. Anyone that is interested in learning more about homelessness and hearing the solutions proposed by our mayoral candidates to address the crisis are encouraged to attend. Registration is limited, so sign up today. If you are unable to attend the discussion live, a recording of the conversation will be shared after the event.
