Praised Be: Pope Francis calls us to care for creation

Thursday, June 18th 7 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish

Join Us in Celebration of the Papal Encyclical on the Environment

The community of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and Earth Ministry invite you to join us on June 18 at 7pm for a celebration of Laudato Sii (Praised Be), Pope Francis’ encyclical on caring for creation.

On that day in Rome, the Vatican will release the first comprehensive Catholic moral statement on creation care and climate change to the faithful around the world.

You are invited to gather with the larger Catholic community of the region, ecumenical faith leaders, our neighbors, and those who have worked tirelessly in the Northwest to protect God’s creation. We will honor the Holy Father’s call to protect Earth’s atmosphere, oceans, and the most vulnerable of God’s children.

6 pm Pre-event tour of parish solar panels, children’s solar kiosk, rain garden, and sustainable building

7 pm Celebration of Praised Be in words and song

8 pm Closing and commissioning of all people to take action to protect the Earth

The words of Pope Francis are timely in the Northwest as glaciers melt, drought deepens, and fossil fuel projects threaten not only Native communities, the poor, and local ecosystems, but all of us. In this kairos moment in the world, let us come together in hope and go out in action as we live into Pope Francis’ call to care for the Earth. Please join us!
