The announcement:

West Seattle photographer Anna-Mária Vág has created a new series of interactive meditation tools with distinct Northwest style. Her dye-infused aluminum bas-relief wall sculptures depicting moss and lichens on trees are designed to stimulate the experience of trataka or fixed gazing meditation.

Aptly named Mossitative, the soothing photo-based series draws on a wide variety of Asian art forms from Ananda yoga and zen garden design to Indian and Korean sculpture to collectively represent yin-yang theory and the Chinese and the five great elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Metal/the Void utilized by feng shui and Oriental Medicine. Selective focus and a sheer glossy holographic finish helps shift and expand perspective and perception depending on the viewing angle, while playful titles with double or more entendres serve as zen koans.

Mossitative begins its traveling tour April 3 – May 8, 2012 at Mithun Threshold Gallery on Pier 56 at 1201 Alaskan Way # 200 Seattle, WA 98101 with an Opening Reception on April 5 from 5-7 pm. For more information please visit www.mossitative.com.
