From organizer Rob:

This is an drum circle open to all levels and interests. Bring drums, bells and anything to make music.

Bring a chair to sit on if we end up at a fire pit.

If no fire pits are open meet at the Statue of Liberty.

Thursday night open drum circle on Alki Beach starting up July 5th.

Now that the weather is finally getting better I wanted to hit the beach for some drumming.

I’ll be at Alki Beach after 6:30 p.m. any Thursday it is not raining thru September 30th.

If you get there early and can snag a fire pit go for it. Bring a chair if we end up on the beach.

Or meet up near the Statue of Liberty, which has benches.

Hope we get a good jam going. Come on out and play!

The organizer also has started up a Meetup group for the drum jam which can be found on the Meetup site under Thursday Alki Beach Drum Jam.

This drumming is so loud and the sound carries many blocks in from the beach. We don’t care to listen to drumming for two hours every Thursday, and the drumming is not even stopping at the 8:30 time posted. We cannot relax when there is constant drumming! Please, at the very least, stop at 8:30!!! It would help us get through the first two hours to know you will stop.

So Please go to the fire-pits this was never meant to be a public display was it? On the beach you would really be able to get into it no distactions, much farther away from residences, with the waves also dissapating some of the noise, did you hear that guy(of course you did) blaring his car horn at you while flipping you off? That would never happen at the fire-pits. Come on, take a hint. Don’t pound into our brains, night after night, have your own private little drum jam down at the beach as originally planned. This is getting ridiculous.

I don’t have any contact with the organizer – people send us event announcements, we publish them. If someone is having a problem, I hope they have spoken directly with either the people in question or with authorities.
