13th Annual Morgan Junction Community Festival

Join us for our annual community festival, featuring music, food and fun, with a focus on local community business, talent and resources.
The 13th annual Morgan Junction Community Festival produced by the Morgan Community Association (MoCA) will be celebrated on June 16th, starting at 10:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm. This year’s festival will feature live music, food vendors, kid entertainment and activities, and commercial vendor and community informational booths. The festival takes place in and around Morgan Junction Park on California Avenue SW.
• The Bubbleman, (sponsored by The West Seattle Blog) all time children’s favorite, will be performing from 10:45 to 11:30 in the park.
Bark of Morgan, pooch parade and contest returns this year (supported by The Wash Dog, Pet Elements, and Next to Nature). 1:45. (NOTE Tracy, Link to writeup submitted last week with the details – with time correction sent earlier)
• Spatter of Morgan kicks off the afternoon. Everyone who participated last year shooting water toys filled with paint at a large canvas had a blast.
• Seattle Department of Neighborhoods (DON) Director Andrés Mantilla will be a special guest and will be introduced and may speak to the crowd.
Seattle Parks and Recreation will have an information booth to introduce preliminary plans for the Morgan Junction Park expansion and will use this opportunity to solicit public input.
First Responders – Seattle Police personnel will be on hand with their vehicles starting at 10:30 am. The Seattle Mounted Patrol, always big hit, will be at the festival again this year around the same time. The Seattle Fire Department Engine 32 and crew will be the curb in front of the park from 1 to 3 pm.
Local Artist Desmond Hansen will be creating a live mural of the Festival starting at 1:00.
Celtic Arts NW dancers will perform two sets in the vendor area behind Zeeks and Whiskey West at 11:00 and 11:45 am.
Food Vendors: Beveridge Place Parking lot from 10:00 to 4:00
The Tamale Guy, serving excellent tamales with his special sauces, slaw and garnishes

Sweet Bumpus Ice Cream, specialty flavors made locally
CJ’s Hot Dog cart
West Seattle Thriftway will be grilling burgers from 11:00 am to approximately 3:00 pm in front of the store as a fundraiser to benefit the festival (suggested donation $7).

Kid Activities: Lots for the Kids at the Festival – 10:00 to 4:00
Craft activities organized by Janet Taylor (sponsored by Peace Lutheran Church) start at 10:00 and continue until 4:00. Face painters and a balloon twister artist (sponsored by West Seattle Vision) will be on hand throughout the day.
And last but not least, over 30 commercial and informational/community group vendors will be in the parking lot behind Zeeks and on Eddy Street. Our vendors are looking forward to a great festival crowd, so see you there!!!!!
