Gifts from the Earth” is an annual event that recognizes South Seattle Community College’s (WSB sponsor) Culinary Arts, Wine Studies and four-year Hospitality programs, as well as our partnership with these industries. Proceeds benefit students and programs at South, such as scholarships, program equipment, and tutoring.

Multi-course dinner prepared by 15 chefs, paired with 30 Washington wineries. Each chef will prepare dinner for two tables of ten and wines for each table will be provided by two Washington wineries.

The evening begins with hors d’oeuvres, wine tasting and a silent auction, followed by dinner and a live auction. All of the proceeds from the event benefit South Seattle Community College’s Foundation that supports students’ financial needs including: scholarships, program equipment, emergency funding, tutoring and more.

The multi-course meal will be prepared by an all-star line-up of local Chefs with South’s Culinary students assiting. Guests will also be served a wide variety of Washington wine including South’s own student-produced wine. South’s Hospitality Management Students will provide guest assistance throughout the evening.

The all-star culinary line-up is made up of executive chefs from Seattle’s finest restaurants, including some South alums. Participating chefs include: Sky City’s Jeff Maxfield (a South alum), the Sheraton Seattle’s John Armstrong, the Washington Athletic Club’s Eric Floyd, The Hunt Club at the Sorrento Hotel’s Dan Gilmore, the Westin — Bellevue’s Ivo Sandrea, Trellis’ Brian Scheehser, Emerald Cove’s Brandon LaVielle (South alum) and Evan Garrard, and South’s Culinary Instructor Will McNamara.

For the seventh consecutive year, Food Services of America will serve as the Title Sponsor for the event. Additional sponsors include: Boeing, Charlie’s Produce, McGranahan Architects, Vigor Industrial, and WSECU.

Last year’s event brought in a new-record total of $188,000. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available and can be purchased by contacting South Seattle Community College’s Foundation at 206 934 5809 or by email at ssccfoundation@seattlecolleges.edu.

Table assignments are made on a lottery basis.
