Be part of one of the most compelling conversations unfolding in America today.

Alki UCC invites community participation in their fall Book Study on Race. Caste: The Origins of our Discontents, the New York Times bestseller by Isabel Wilkerson, will inspire the discussion.

Described by the Times as “an instant American classic and almost certainly the keynote nonfiction book of the American century thus far,” the work has also been cited as an eye-opening story of people and history — a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and the legacy of America’s unique system of castes. Caste was a recent selection of Oprah’s Book Club.

The book study reflects the church’s belief that talking about racism supports the larger mission to create a just and peaceful world.

Zoom registration is required and two different eight-week sessions are offered:

Sundays at 5:00 pm beginning October 4
