Saturday, November 17, the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition/Technical Advisory Group’s youth engagement program the Duwamish Valley Youth Corps will be hosting an event developed and facilitated entirely by the Youth.

The Youth Corps will be educating community members on the health hazards faced by residents of the Superfund site as well as leading discussions, problem-solving and identifying short- and long-term solutions to the issues.

The Youth will also be presenting on work being undertaken by the EPA, Department of Ecology, and DRCC/TAG toward the Superfund Cleanup, as well as an updated on the City’s Duwamish Valley Action Plan which was released in July 2018.

When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: South Park Community Center, 8319 8th Ave. S, Seattle

Who: Speakers from Duwamish Valley Youth Corps and Environmental Justice Youth Forum, Mayor Jenny Durkan and Police Chief Carmen Best

As part of the event, the Duwamish Infrastructure Restoration Training Corps is partnering with the Youth Corps to host a tree giveaway for Duwamish Valley community members. This partnership is funded in part by The Nature Conservancy and The Boeing Company through the Planting Trees for Thriving Communities project.
