The Southwest Seattle Historical Society is excited to announce that it is hosting curator Maggie Kase for a live Zoom presentation on Thursday, December 16 at 6:00 PM. Kase will be diving into the historical society’s latest exhibit the Spirit Returns 2.0: A Duwamish and Settler Story. Registration is required.

The “Spirit Returns 2.0” reexamines non-native settler accounts of early relations with the Duwamish tribe to set the stage for a celebration of contemporary collaborations and friendship between these communities. Join us to hear an up close and personal account of David “Doc” S. Maynard, Arthur Denny, and more of the prominent settler families who arrived in Alki in the 1850s. The program will also include some behind-the-scenes information about the creation of the exhibit at the historical society, including a sneak-peek at the contents of David Maynard’s letters that aren’t included in the exhibit!
