Emcee: Deedee Sun
Deedee Sun is a two-time Emmy Award winning reporter and morning anchor for KIRO 7 TV. You can catch her broadcast every morning from 4:30 to 7 a.m. She has resided in the Seattle area for over seven years. Hailing from Decatur, Illinois, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University. Prior to joining KIRO 7, she worked as a reporter and anchor in Pennsylvania and Kansas.Reverend Dr. Phyllis Beaumonte
Prayer and Blessing: Reverend Dr. Phyllis Beaumonte
Reverend Dr. Phyllis Beaumonte serves as Associate Minister and Pulpit and Worship Service Coordinator at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Seattle. She received her Doctor of Ministry from San Francisco Theological Seminary and her M.A.P.S. from the School of Theology and Ministry at Seattle University. Dr. Beaumonte holds a Bachelor of Political Science, a Bachelor of Editorial Journalism, and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Washington. Born and raised in Seattle, she is a retired educator who has taught at the high school level, as well as at South Seattle College and Pacific Lutheran University.Tim Wise
Keynote Address: Tim Wise
Tim Wise is a leading anti-racist writer and educator, with more than 25 years of experience speaking at colleges, conferences, and community groups nationwide. He has provided anti-racism training to professionals in corporate, government, entertainment, media, law enforcement, military, and medical industries, both in the U.S and internationally.As the author of nine books, including “Dispatches from the Race War,” Wise explores topics such as racial inequality, privilege, and the impact of racism on society. His involvement in social justice extends to his advisory role at the Fisk University Race Relations Institute and his past work with the Louisiana Coalition Against Racism and Nazism. He has also been featured in documentaries, including “White Like Me” and “The Great White Hoax,” and has participated in public dialogues on issues of race, class, gender, and militarism.
DaNell Daymon
Music and Song: DaNell Daymon and Greater Works
DaNell Daymon and Greater Works is a contemporary gospel choir whose members come from Seattle and other cities across the U.S. The group’s chief vocal director, DaNell Daymon, is a multi-talented Gospel Music artist who resides in the Pacific Northwest. The group appeared on Season 12 of NBC TV’s America’s Got Talent in the spring and summer of 2017, advancing as far as the semifinals.Breakfast Menu
Hot breakfast will be served from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and will include assorted pastries, bacon and sausage, breakfast potatoes, pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, assorted juices, and water.Parking
Attendees should park in the South Lot, south of Brockey Center and Olympic Hall. Parking will be free for the day.
