If you don’t know CAN already, we are a college access and completion program serving 960 students in the 2013-2014 academic year – including 560 juniors and seniors at 6 Seattle public high schools, and over 400 students at colleges across Washington State and the country. 100% of our students are low income, and most are the first in their family to pursue a college degree. Students join CAN’s program in junior or senior year of high school – receiving intensive one-on-one and general coaching from our core team of AmeriCorps mentors, volunteers, and staff until they secure that all important college degree.

CAN’s high school program walks students step-by-step through college identification, standardized test preparation, and college and financial aid applications. Even after students graduate from high school, CAN is there to help them succeed. Our college persistence team helps students adjust to life on a college campus, connect with resources like academic tutoring, renew their financial aid, and more.

CAN currently serves students at Garfield, Franklin, Nathan Hale, Roosevelt, Chief Sealth and West Seattle public high schools in Seattle. CAN’s impact reaches beyond the students in our program – we also work to increase the school-wide college-going culture in the schools we serve. CAN participates in school-wide financial aid forums and PTSA college nights. And, we have an open door policy – any student who drops into CAN’s offices at the schools can receive ad hoc direct support and guidance.

The Seattle Times called College Access Now an A+ College Prep
Program
. We would love if you can become part of our effort to get every deserving student on the path to academic success!
