Chief Sealth spring sports in the playoffs

Baseball: The boys earned the #2 seed in the Sound Division and kick off the playoffs TONIGHT with a home game vs. #3 Mountain Seed Bishop Blanchet. The game will be at 6:00pm at SWAC. Admission to the first round game is free. The Metro Tournament is an 8-team, double-elimination tournament (bracket attached) with the top three finishers qualifying directly for the State Tournament.

Softball: Your Sound Division champion softball team will kick off the Metro League Tournament (bracket attached) on WEDNESDAY with a home game (4:00pm start) against the winner of today’s Seattle Prep/Franklin game. From there, the girls will have games on both Thursday and Friday at Lower Woodland Park, with 8 teams qualifying for the District II tournament which begins next week.

Boys Soccer: Sound Division champions and ranked 8th in State, the boys soccer team has a bye into the semi-finals of the Metro League Soccer Tournament (bracket attached). They’ll play on WEDNESDAY night (5:30 start) at Interbay Athletic Complex versus the winner of the Bainbridge/Seattle Prep game. With a win on Wednesday, the boys will qualify for the State Tournament and play in the Metro Championship game on Friday night. Even with a loss, they’ll be back in action on Thursday with one more chance to qualify.

Tennis: 3rd seeded Freshmen Maria Nguyen is the last Seahawk standing in the Metro Tennis Tournament (brackets attached) that began this past Saturday. She defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-0 to remain undefeated on the season. TODAY at 1:30 she’ll face off against the 6th seeded girls singles player with the winner qualifying for the District II tournament which begins next week. If she wins this afternoon, Nguyen will move on to the semifinals which will be player later tonight. Tennis is played at Lower Woodland Park.

Track: The boys and girls track and field team will host the Metro League Tournament this WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY at SWAC. The boys team will be led by Pepe Hernandez who is currently in the top 2 in league in high jump, long jump and triple jump. On the girls side, Dominique Prater is currently 2nd in the league in the shot put while Hila Gross is 4th in the discus. Those that qualify will move on to next week’s District II meet, also held at SWAC.
