Learn how to design 3D models suitable for 3D printing using Rhino 5, a 3D computer graphics and computer-aided design (CAD) software. This is day 2 of a 2-part class and you must attend both parts. Registration is required.

3D printing is becoming an essential tool in design and digital fabrication. Rhino 5 is one of the most powerful platforms for just about anything from industrial modeling and architecture to custom design, and prototype development and more.

This beginner’s class is a two-part series that will uncover the core processes behind 3D printing and introduce you to the basic concepts behind the 3D modeling tools of the Rhino software. You will learn computer-aided design (CAD) concepts, including NURBS curves, point clouds and polygon meshes. We’ll help you navigate the pitfalls of 3D design. You will be armed with approaches to 3D modeling to help you make your own small creation and turn your idea into reality. You will finish designing your 3D model and upload it to Intentional3D for printing.

Registration is required. You are registering for a two-part class that occurs August 8 and 9.

Upon completion of both parts, the library will provide a coupon that covers up to $25 for the cost of printing your 3D model. 3D print jobs will be sent to Intentional3D for printing and will be mailed to participants.

Library events and programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is required. Register in person or call 206-733-9125.

Space is limited at library events. Please come early to make sure you get a seat. Due to the fire code, we can’t exceed the maximum capacity for our rooms.
