West Seattle Sunday night scenes: Capped up; shut down

Seen from the ferry Sealth between Fauntleroy and Vashon just before sunset – Mount Rainier with a cloud cap. Meantime, a final shot from West Seattle Summer Fest as we departed – the start of an evening full of shutting down and packing up:

Junction streets were set to reopen late tonight; next scheduled closure, California SW next Saturday midday for the West Seattle Grand Parade, south of Admiral to south end of The Junction; our parade countdown starts in the morning.

Amplified music from the Junction area could still be heard well after 1am this morning (Monday 7/14). Don’t know if the late music was the crews taking things apart or what, but it could be heard blocks away, through closed windows.

That’s a lenticular cloud over the summit. People sometimes confuse them for UFO’s because of their lens-like shape.

Christopher, When I first saw the pic, earlier this morning, I thought about posting some silly comment such as OMG! There’s a UFO on top of Mt Rainier! ;)

I’m a Mt. Hood girl myself, but that is all kindsa pretty.

Mike: They can also form when there is no mountain beneath them…just a UFO-like shape hanging in the sky. That’s when phones start ringing at police stations out in the boonies and Sculley and Mulder have to go running to see what’s up.

Sorry, comment time is over.
