West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen stroller; hit-run; vandalism

Three West Seattle Crime Watch reader reports. First one’s from Johnali:

Our Bob Revolution jogging stroller (black), was stolen from our secured building between 6:30 pm last night and 7:30am this morning. We live on Delridge and Trenton. Anything would be helpful as we are still hopeful we will find it.

Let police know if you do. Second, Lynn‘s hoping to find the hit-run driver who damaged her car and another one just south of The Junction:

The 2 cars that were hit were parked 1/2 block north of Rite Aid, near a telephone and across the street from a large apartment building construction site (west side of California Avenue, SW). My car is a 2013 gray 4 door Nissan Altima. I do not know the make of the other car that was hit, but its owner told me that her left-side mirror was bent backwards and was missing most of the mirror glass. I didn’t find any paint from the car that hit mine. However, I did find a side mirror on the ground near my car that may have been from the car that hit mine. It appears from the damage my car sustained that the offending car came from the north, which would mean that their car would be missing their right side mirror. I’ve kept the side mirror, just in case.

Third, Kezia wondered if anybody else woke up Sunday morning in the Westwood area to find out their car had been vandalized – a crude drawing in black paint on a white car, in her case.

REMINDER: Bring community concerns to the West Seattle Crime Prevention Council‘s meeting at Lincoln Park Shelter 1 tomorrow (Tuesday) night, 7 pm, map here.

I wonder if the paint has anything to do with all the graffiti on the front of Sealth this morning.

Not sure if related to the paint vandalism, but some jerk scratched kkk into the side of my car door…
Very frustrating that there are people out there who do not respect others property and now I have an a-hole organization scratched into my car…

How do you know the cars were hit by another car? A friend’s car had his mirror knocked off, and a neighbor told him that he had seen some teens walking down the street, not the sidewalk, but the street, with a baseball bat.

@phil dirt: “I did find a side mirror on the ground near my car that may have been from the car that hit mine.”

    that’s how.

To the person who found the side mirror, there are likely some markings on it (they’ll be VERY small) such as a part number, etc, and if you Google them you can find out make and model and maybe even year of the car it came from. Someone on the forums recently posted a pic of a side mirror left behind in a side-swipe and others were able to help identify the car.

@jen, where was the graffiti at Sealth? I live right by there and was coming home around 9:30-9:45 and saw someone ride their bike towards the school (towards the cafeteria) which I thought was strange, but didn’t really think much else of it. Thought he might just be riding through the parking lot.

Horrible parenting. Know where your kids are people. Stop making them society’s problem.

Saw the Sealth graffiti yesterday while dropping off my child. I think it more an end-of-the-year gesture, perhaps by students from another school. The spray paint covered a large area, composed of nasty non-gang words and symbols, and will take a lot of work to cover.

Two new issues: First, one night last week someone poured a large can of Spaghetti-O’s on the hood of two cars on my street. Someone spent time and took great care to pour it in the exact center of each vehicle’s hood. Great big slimy piles of stuff, an invitation for raccoons and birds to scratch up car paint, and indeed one car’s side and hood were badly scratched by climbing animals. Ever heard of this before?
Second issue – – when contacted, the SPD was not interested in tabulating this info and thought it amusing. Granted, not serious compared to murder/etc., but by discouraging mindless vandalism the SPD can help nip bigger problems in the bud.

    Johnali,
in the next couple of days check frequently around Safeway on Roxbury. When our BOB Stroller disappeared it was sighted on 28th AVE SW and near Roxbury Lanes then found at Safeway 10pmish full of other peoples stuff. We’ll keep looking for you!

    Johnali,
Did your stroller have any green on it? I noticed that a regular pan handler down on Marginal Way and W Highland Pkwy had a new black (w/ green trim) stroller yesterday (he was keeping his cat in it). Couldn’t tell if it was Bob Brand or not, but thought I’d mention it just in case.

Hi Jelliot, thanks for looking out for the stroller. Did it look like this one?:

    http://www.amazon.com/BOB-Revolution-Single-Stroller-Black/dp/B004DC9TAS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1403292643&sr=8-2&keywords=bob

It has gray trim but I could see how it could look green driving past it. I am going to drive down there and see if I see anything. Thanks again!

I saw a white tall guy looked like in his mid 20s with a 3 wheeled stroller with blanket over it last week around 6:45pm on Tue. Or so. Then the same guy with 2 other people with the stroller on Thursday around 6:30pm as well.

  • Ben B June 23, 2014 (8:44 am)

    Mayuko,

Thanks for the post. Where abouts did you see these people? Did the stroller look like the one listed in the above amazon link?

  • Mayuko June 25, 2014 (9:10 pm)

Highland pkwy bottom of the hill. I saw those 3 ppl on the way back from work this evening. No stroller was there. They had cat (s). Sorry.

  • Jelliot June 28, 2014 (1:53 pm)

    Hi,
Sorry about the delay. But it was a different stroller than in the pic. Sounds like I saw the same guy and group as Mayuko last week.

Sorry, comment time is over.
