West Seattle Crime Watch: Roxhill/Westwood response and 3 reader reports

Four notes in West Seattle Crime Watch this afternoon. First, police are responding right now to Roxhill Park again – this time to check out a report of an assault/fight involving people who apparently know each other. Via scanner, it sounds as if they’ve caught up at Westwood Village with one person involved, but they’re getting conflicting stories as to what, if anything, really happened. So this is just an FYI in case you saw/heard the police response. Now, from the WSB inbox:

JUNCTION CAR BREAK-INS: Richard reports multiple cars broken into in the Jefferson Square Apartments garage in The Junction overnight, including his, and the thief/thieves broke car windows (including his) to get in. It’s been reported to police.

Car prowl and mailbox prowl reports ahead:

ADMIRAL CAR BREAK-IN: An anonymous West Seattleite reports:

Fyi someone broke into my car sometime Friday night. It was parked in my apartment lot in the alley behind 2100 California and Hill street. I was going out to leave Saturday around 11 and noticed my door was unlocked and everything from my glove box and center console as well as the seat backs were tossed around the car onto the seats and floors. I have a 97 Honda Civic which I know is notoriously easy to steal so I never leave anything valuable in there. SO, luckily, there was absolutely no damage and nothing was even stolen. Still creepy though…

And STILL really important to report to police, even if nothing was taken or damaged.

MAILBOX PROWLING: From Sherri:

We have a mailbox prowler in the 8300-8400 blocks of 6th Avenue SW. Twice, in as many weeks, mail boxes have been prowled and left with their mail flaps left open. The first time we did not think anything of it, as we had a windstorm the night before. Yesterday, a neighbor left in the morning about 9:30, their mail box undisturbed but returned to find the door to the box open two hours later. Venturing down the street she found all the boxes had been prowled and an opened greeting card envelope in the street. One of the neighbors’ mail had been stolen a couple of weeks ago and it looks like the prowler is back. The post office has been notified, as SPD suggested.

Just a reminder – we share reader reports in Crime Watch because even though SPD makes call types and locations available, detailed reports do not become available for days, if at all, so if you’d like to alert your fellow West Seattleites, ask for help in finding stolen property, etc., e-mail us the info (editor@westseattleblog.com) – once you’ve reported it to police. Thanks!
