TRAFFIC ALERT: Crash on Avalon/Spokane onramp to eastbound West Seattle Bridge

2:31 PM: Thanks for the tip and photo. A multi-vehicle crash, also including a Metro bus, has backed up traffic on the onramp from Avalon/Spokane to the eastbound West Seattle Bridge. Tow trucks were reported to be on the way. No serious injuries reported. But if you need to get to the eastbound bridge, try another route for a while.

3:31 PM: Another texter sent this photo of the bus:

No camera at that spot so we don’t have an update on whether it cleared.

Well this one is a puzzler. That’s got to be the C-Line? Heading to downtown? It has its own well-marked bus-only lane. How do the cars end up with damaged front corners, and the bus with a damaged rear (curb side) corner in that scenario?

i was on the bus- the car was in the bus lane not moving and the bus honked and the car reversed extremely fast and turned into the side of the bus.

Thanks. So the car and the bus were both in the bus lane. And the other car also?

Perhaps car driver thought “Bus only” meant “Important drivers allowed.”

Very observant, Bolo.  Difficult one to figure out just by looking at the scene. That’s because it took some crazy driving  to create this accident scene.  A man in the white Audi was sitting IN the eastbound bus lane when the C bus was coming up behind it.   All of a sudden, the Audi starts BACKING UP- at decent speed – while still IN THE BUS LANE. The bus driver swerved  to miss the Audi and succeeded – when the Audi (still driving in reverse!) hit the back of the moving bus- as well as side-swiping a Lincoln in the vicinity.  The crashed Audi was now sitting half in the bus lane with its left half sitting in the center lane with no flashers or lights on.  About 7 minutes after the Audi / Bus incident, a second car (white Ionic), driving in center lane –  proceeded to smash into the Audi, knocking it forward and mostly back over into the Bus Lane.  (photo: seen sitting in the center lane). Most amazing thing is –  that with 3 cars and a Metro bus involved, nobody was seriously hurt.

Audi also seems fine with a bonus 200 fine for no front plate. Let’s see if he also gets reckless endangerment based on multiple descriptions.

Sorry, comment time is over.
