TRAFFIC ALERT: West Seattle Bridge crashes

(Screenshot from SDOT camera)

According to emergency-radio traffic, there are two crashes on the West Seattle Bridge right now – including five cars on the westbound side. They’re blocking off the eastbound entrance just past 35th/Fauntleroy, and some cars stuck behind a fire engine are turning around to go back the wrong way. So avoid the southwest end of the bridge for a while. No word of any major injuries.

Huh. So when it rains, you probably have to drive a little slower, huh?

Makes me wonder when there is a car crash or other police response are the criminals keyed to start their activity because the police are busy. The car prowls in north peninsula were happening at the same time.  If the WSB gets police scanner reports why not the criminals.

Seattle’s streets are slick with rain.  Slow down, keep a common sense distance between cars when driving, turn on your headlights, eyes on the road at all times aka no distractions.

So is blanketing common sense statements to the masses as if all of us have never driven before.

I don’t mind being put down for sharing friendly advice even if it only keeps one person safe.

Is that not the area that was partially repaved during the bridge closure?

Again I must point out that this is a big reason light rail is useful…..

    • CarDriver November 1, 2024 (11:45 am)

Wow! Light rail will end all car accidents. And,light rail never has accidents?

My man Derek over here repeating the same thing on every internet post he sees to try and invoke a train out of thin air instantly

I know my opinion won’t change anyone’s mind on the matter, but I agree with Derek. Trains do crash, just like cars, but at a much lower rate, especially in developed countries like the one we’re blessed to live in. Plus it’s a lot harder for bad actors to steal a train or drive it drunk (not impossible, sure, but way, way harder). Light rail options are a good investment for any densely populated area, and it’s not like Seattle’s getting any smaller!

Transit buses are still operating … and yet, magically, auto accidents still occur all over town. A mystery how both those things can occur…

Perhaps our erstwhile council member & chair of the transportation committee Saka might reallocate his $2M ask for the removal of the median to his kids’ preschool (illegal & dangerous left turn) to fixing the pavement issues in Spokane street uphill climb instead?????More arm-waving please for things that really matter……

Sorry, comment time is over.
