UPDATE: 30+ homes lose power

5:50 AM: Thanks for the texted tip. Seattle City Light is investigating an outage affecting more than 30 homes in the Fairmount Park area. Our texter says a loud boom was heard right before the power went out near 38th/Hudson.

9:03 AM: Power’s been restored.

10:38 AM: … but not for everyone, per commenters and the SCL map.

You always amaze us WSB! Lying in bed doing Wordle at 5:14am. Why? Then BANG! Better check the Blog and there it is already. A power outage in the neighborhood, but not mine this time. Hope it’s over quickly. Thanks for your never failing reporting!

The crew seems to have just found whatever the problem was at the end of the alley between 37th and 38th on Hudson. They said “oh there it is”, clicked something and the power came right on. Thankful they got to it so quickly!

Still out for us at 10:24a.  There are 5 customers still affected according to the SCL map.

Still without power, located on 38th. Hope Seattle City Light doesn’t forget about us.

This is another fine example of how Seattle City Light supports our aging and, at times, vulnerable electricity infrastructure and can quickly respond where needed. Yes, Puget Sound Energy has a lot more customers and area to cover – and likely more repair crews available. But I doubt they could respond this quickly. Thanks SCL!
