TRAFFIC ALERT: Spokane Street Viaduct reopens early

Thanks for the tip! The live traffic camera verifies that the Spokane Street Viaduct eastbound-and-partial-westbound closure has ended early, and all lanes are open again, in both directions. (The closure had been announced as planned for the entire weekend.)

Wow, those avocadoes must have been covered in magic dust.

Pardon my cynicism, I’m just waiting for some armchair engineer to say that opening the lanes early means they didn’t do their job. ๐Ÿ˜‚In all seriousness, this is good news for me as I have errands planned off the peninsula!

I wouldn’t hold out. folks like that only comment when thier feelings about SDOT are confirmed by either a delay or budget overrun. they’ll probably quietly scroll by without thinking anything of this.

Did they schedule a huge truck to drive across the wet pavement to leave a nice long tire track divot across the lanes this time? Just asking cause I don’t do well with change, lol

You can look “live” at a large segment of the work zone to see for yourself via the SDOT cameras.

It looks pretty smooth! There are spots in the new surface reflecting the evening sun right now on the live cam, like shiny spots. I hope they won’t also be slick.

The orange tone from the wildfire smoke makes the picture look like it is from the 70’s

Still lots of rock & debris that hit my car this morning and I only go all the way to the 4th Ave. Exit.  I was also hoping that they might Pick Up that Tire that has been in the Left lane off-ramp to 4th Ave. that has been there for well over 2 months.  They had to have seen it as it is just beyond all of the Cones that they had up.  Like maybe 20 feet or so.  They could have thrown it onto their debris truck.  I did do the Find it Fix it app as well weeks ago.

Construction debris has to be sorted.  You can’t drop off tires with concrete debris.

Sorry, comment time is over.
