(Added: Photo sent by Todd)

4:40 PM: Thanks to Kelsey for the tip. SW Charlestown is blocked at 46th SW right now because of a crash. Avoid the area.

4:43 PM: Apparently no serious injuries – the one SFD engine that responded has closed out the call.

8:32 PM: SFD says crews evaluated two men, a 41-year-old with no reported injuries and an 18-year-old with minor injuries; neither was taken to a hospital.

just someone in a big hurry.  caution ….nah…who needs that?

Exactly why we need a stop sign at top of second steepest hill in West Seattle.  People come flying up AND down, and have crashed into fences at bottom and nearly hit children at top. Ridiculous and dangerous.

A stop at the top?  There’s a reason the cross street at the top has a no left turn sign.  I’ve lived in this house for 20 years, close to that hill, it’s rarely a problem.

A left turn makes no difference if you’re going straight or turning right. You’re still fair game for a flying car.

Lol who puts a stop sign on the top of the road? Do you have a stick shift?

They should have the traffic mirrors set up at the top of the hill similar to the ones at Trader Joe’s when you come out of the parking garage

We lived at that intersection years ago.  Many near-misses with a lot of racing where drivers would gun it heading west down Charlestown – with silence until seconds later when we heard the car or motorcycle land  about half a block down the hill.

That was called “ catching air”, it was a thing back then.

We used to do it the other way. Where we would hit the bottom of rhe hill at about 60 and gun it all the way up.Would fly so high we would see that stop sign out the window of the cars. Land on the otherside of the Intersection heading toward 7-11!

We have lived near this intersection for 30+ years.  The silver car was headed north on 46th and made an illegal left turn onto Charlestown where it was hit by the black car coming up the hill.  People like to go fast up the hill.  Maybe they are trying to get airborne! I once saw a mother with a baby stroller almost get hit and she was crossing a block east at 45th.

I’ve seen people ignore the no left turn signs that, this case, caused the accident.

Sorry, comment time is over.
