Lots of breaching going on. We saw the activity from our roof near Weather Watch Park. Now see them off Alki Point.
A week ago last Sunday a Humpback whale fully breached about 200 yards in front of my boat about half a mile south of Alki point. We stopped the boat and shut down the engine. What happened next was pretty amazing and caught on a cell phone video. The whale made a high speed beeline for our small boat and stopped right along side the boat less than a foot below the serface. Not agressive, just curious, He hung-out looking at us for about 2 min. than swam off to catch up with another humpback seen breaching in the distance to the north.
OMG!!! What did it feel like to see something so huge just below you like that? I’d be excited and afraid at the same time. 😳🐋
Mike – would love to see the footage you got on your cell phone. What an amazing experience.
Do you have a way to share the video? Must have been such a nice experience
