FERRY ALERT: Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth route down to 1 boat

Washington State Ferries says the #2 boat on the Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth run will tie up for the rest of today/tonight after its current run, because of a crew shortage – so it’s only running the #1 boat until further notice. (Check Vessel Watch for current location(s) – the #1 vessel, which will keep running, is M/V Kittitas.)

Anyone else sick and tired of the crew shortage excuse? We often go across to Port Townsend and Angeles for business on the weekends. The last thing we want to do at the end of our long weekend is drive around. Get it together WSF

Clearly you all have proof they aren’t short crew. Please share what you know is really going on. You also have evidence they’re deliberately not hiring crew?.  Anxious to hear how know you can “fix” all this.

Often times it’s an issue of pay and schedules, not an actual worker shortage. Not being able to fill an bad role doesn’t mean that people aren’t available to fill it.

Try the Bremerton ferry instead of driving around, getting off downtown isn’t so bad. And last time I did it the price was lower than the Southworth ferry.

WSF certainly seems to have been bitten by that bugaboo we call “the realities of the modern workforce in the wake of a crippling global pandemic” and it’s really grinding my gears too.

    This is getting absurd

Clinton to Mukilteo route on Whidbey Island also on a one boat schedule for remainder of the day. Of course ride bike or  Uber say using a folding bike and access transit other side not an issue.

We need a Republican governer that will focus on getting the ferry system working again. So far I’ve heard nothing from Democrats other than “we need to raise taxes”.

Yeah because all I hear from republican candidates is “let’s fix our broken ferry system”. They seem way more interested in fighting divisive culture wars.

Yeah, I’m sure that funding cuts, maintenance cuts, lower salaries, and less hiring will do wonders to mitigate the staffing shortages. Ferries are public transportation and that falls under the “communism.” Loren Culp is right now saying that “manmade lightning” is the source of our forest fires. I can’t imagine Culp doing one thing that doesn’t make our infrastructure worse.

Sorry, comment time is over.
