It’s called anthropomorphic “projection.”  These animals, and nature in general, are far more tough, resilient and adaptable then we give them credit for.   Many species have not only survived contact with Homo Sapien, they have thrived.  And then is coming from someone who grew up as a nature buff and still is.

The captain stayed distant. Everything was fine. Can’t control where the whales go but he shut engine off and we were just floating.

I am an at utter loss that anyone might think THIS photo portrays a whale watching infraction. The approach distance for Bigg’s killer whales is 200 yards. These whales are most *certainly* not too close to this vessel. I sincerely *hope* you included the photo in your enforcement report so that they can immediately dismiss the case.

Completely unrelated. Cool fact tho they have patterns. These same whales were here almost exactly a year ago to the day.

Do the orcas enjoy the nice weather as much as we do, or is it just that the visibility is good, making a sighting more likely?

I witnessed the same the other day, they stayed right with them for a while. If they are a whale watching boat they are aware of the distance requirements. What can we do with regards to reporting them?

I saw them a few days ago on the ferry following super close to the orcas. They were following them.
