TRAFFIC ALERT: Work ahead in southeast West Seattle as part of planning for million-gallon overflow storage tank

This alert is from the King County Wastewater Treatment Division, for work that will affect traffic:

King County Wastewater Treatment Division is building a wet weather storage facility near the intersection of SW Michigan Street and 2nd Ave SW to reduce combined sewer overflows into the Duwamish River. Starting as early as May 25, crews will spend up to four business days potholing, or digging small holes, to better understand the locations and condition of utility lines including sewer, power, water, telephone, and gas lines. This work will occur at the storage facility site and near the following locations:

-2nd Ave SW between SW Michigan Street and Highland Park Way SW
-SW Michigan Street east of 2nd Ave SW
-Highland Parkway SW near the intersection with 2nd Ave SW
-W Marginal Way SW near the intersection with SW Front Street

What you can expect

-Work hours 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on business days between May 25 and May 30. Potholing on Highland Park Way SW may require night work due to high traffic volumes in the area.
-Temporary lane closures with flaggers on site to assist vehicle and pedestrian movement. Lane closures will not be concurrent, and each will last up to three hours.
-One drill rig and up to four service vehicles on site.
-Noise and slight vibrations during work hours, including engine noise and periodic hammering.
-Occasional truck traffic accessing the site during work hours.

As for the project itself, we’ve reported on it several times, most recently here. Construction of the 1.25-million-gallon tank and surrounding facilities is not expected to begin before 2025.

Can’t enlarge map image on iPhone. is there any way  to optimize the bookmarked WSB “app” so it’s mobile-friendly? Thanks.

Hi; images enlarge with the two-finger reverse pinch (not sure what else to call it) … In case it works better for you, I see they’ve posted the notice directly on the project website too, same map:

Usually 2 finger expand images works (that’s what I call it! ;-). But on WSB it does not. Just tried above again. Someone tap before expand is needed. Neither works for me. iPhone 12 mini. Something wrong with my phone, me, my fingers? Other readers…?thanks for responding WSB.

That’s what we both have, and it expands just fine whether you tap first to isolate the image or not.

My I phone has never been able to expand pictures in the WSB app. It will on the website. You can save an image in the app as a photo and then expand it, but I have never been able to expand an image straight from the app. iPhone 6 and 12 mini.

Yeah I’ve been a follower for years. But the one thing that could make it even better is a user-friendly app. You can get what you need from the website link rather than the app, but it’s not optimized for a phone either and not easy to get around in. My info never saves even though I click the box to remember my name and email for the next time. Never have I been able to expand pics. Always the newest iPhone and iOS in my hands.

Thanks all; so here’s what worked: hard press on image, then clicked on the “Click to expand” option that came up. It opens in its own page. To return back to the article page, a swipe right on the screen works. So now I know and hopefully it helps others too. Thanks again WSB, Wseattleite, and Dooh.

            Thanks!

You have to click on the picture and it opens in a dark screen.  It will allow you at this point.  Just tried it.

I think the issue is it’s working for some and not others. I wonder why.

Sorry, comment time is over.
