UPDATE: Seattle Fire ‘full response’ for 9000 block 18th SW

1:25 AM: Seattle Fire is sending a “full response” to a building in the 9000 block of 18th SW [vicinity map]. 911 callers reported seeing flames. Updates to come.

1:28 AM: First arriving units confirm it’s a “working fire.” SFD describes it as a “vacant building.”

1:35 AM: Firefighters have told dispatch it looks like the fire “started on the outside.” City records show the house, sold after foreclosure last fall, has been the subject of multiple “vacant building” violations, most recently last month.

1:42 AM: They’ve declared the fire “tapped” (out).

1:52 AM: No report of injuries. Some responders are being cleared to leave.

    i’m currently hearing a lot of sirens, sounds like a horrible fire.

    Any more news on the cause of the fire? This house is right next door to my daughter’s apartment. Very scary.

    This house is very well known on this block for having people in and out of it with stolen goods, but mainly drugs. In plain sight they shoot up, and their needles have even made their way surrounding the garbage bin outside of my apartment complex (the Edric. Total —-hole btw). I have watched on a weekly basis outside of my window that faces this house 2 residents from the Edric selling drugs to these guys, only encouraging them to frequent more often. It is of zero shock or surprise that it caught fire at night. And it will continue to happen. They constantly go through the garbage outside of the Edric, and a few times Ive been surprised to find whatever crackhead of the day passed out in front of our bins, and they’d scurry back over to that house. Its horrendous. They need to demolish that house. But the apartment complex (Edric) next to it doesn’t help at all by encouraging the stolen goods and drug behavior so …
