UPDATE: Hit-run driver damages Taquitos Feliz truck north of Lincoln Park

(WSB photo)

8:58 PM: Thanks for the tips. A hit-and-run driver hit and damaged the Taquitos Feliz taco truck at the gas station/mini-mart north of Lincoln Park around 7 pm. Police told us the driver was trying to turn into the gas station but hit the truck instead.

No serious injuries reported, though SFD was called to the scene a second time to check someone out. The driver was reported to have left the car near the station and gone into Lincoln Park on foot; we don’t know yet if police ever caught up with him.

11:21 PM: Still on the loose, police say. But they did impound his car.

11:52 AM: The truck is open for business, by the way. And so busy, we couldn’t even get close enough to ask a question (we’ll try again later).

I’m so sorry, they are the nicest people that own and operate that truck. I hope they catch the guy.

Somebody has to be completely out of control to hit that food truck. I go there often and it’s quite securely tucked away.I am so sorry that this happened.  Both the food and the owner are amazingIf you need money,/help please start a go fund me and let the West Seattle Blog Tracy know so our community can help you recoverFor those of you, that don’t know this food truck is permanently stationed right next to the 76 station at the north entrance to Lincoln Park. Across the street to the west from the tennis courts. This is a minority owned business, and he works very very hard.  That show him strong support in both buying food there but also big tips…. as in:  BIG  to help him, restore his truck and food supply, and perhaps even his body.  He must’ve got hit very hard.  Stupid, stupid driver. I hope you get caught and some jail time!!!!

Gosh this is such bad news. Really one of our most frequented dinner options. Their food is great and they really are nice.I hope they share any news of what they need to get back in business so the community can help. They give to the community too; free food on Xmas Eve and lots of people enjoy that.

    So glad nobody was hurt!

(as in serious or critical condition injuries.  Hopefully all minor injuries and people will be able to recover easily)

Please let us know if they start a GoFundMe–would happily donate to help repair this neighborhood gem!

Those trucks are hard to see. Right?

  • M May 19, 2023 (8:01 am)

The people who run this truck work so hard in some pretty tough conditions. It can’t be easy working in such a small space day in and out, but they are always so nice and make great food. Like other small businesses overwhelmed with violent and petty crime, it’s up to our community to let them know they are not alone. Please do advise if there is a GoFundMe set up.

I took this photo of the gray Dodge two door car that hit the food truck and sped away with significant damage to the front.

    • WSB May 19, 2023 (8:58 am)

As noted, police have impounded the car.

I wonder if the car was stolen?  I hope they catch him or her if this was them and not stolen.  I hate that people think that they can just run into other people or cause damage and not have to be held responsible.  Too many of these hit and runs anymore.  Or people with-out-insurance.

It’s a little more, ahem, “Challenging,” to steal Dodge cars once they partnered with Fiat. The push-button start system is key-less and requires the key fob to be IN the car. Not to mention that many if not most at least have access to an anti-theft subscription that will alert the owner by text that the car is being stolen, disable it if the key fob is not detected inside the vehicle, and track the vehicle with updates to location right in the app and available on-demand. I’d bet the driver was the owner unless he’d stolen the key fob.

Actually these are stolen far more than you think through rental companies and right off the lot. Amongst a handful of other ways that goes right around the push button technology connected to apps on star and so forth.

A Dodge Challenger would have been in my top five guesses for the culprit here.

      • Josh May 19, 2023 (3:27 pm)

Yeah between the notoriously terrible sight lines from the way too long hood and poor driving position and the fact the market for that car is people who watch too much Fast and Furious and want to drive like their heroes it checks out that it’s a Challenger driver that did this.

I was there sitting under the awning and watched the whole thing.  12 minutes earlier and I could have been rolled up under the taco truck that was moved 8 feet in the front. I called 911 and it was a quick response, but that dude abandoned his car and fled.  Other community members and EMTs gathered to make sure the workers in the truck were OK and one guy even had his blood hound track his scent.   My hunch is the young man was trying to perform a 180 right there and missed…badly.  What I will say positively is DO NOT mess with our tacos! 🌮 🌮

    • John May 19, 2023 (10:11 am)

It wasn’t a silver Honda SUV was it? There was somebody who was super drunk that I called 911 just a few days ago to report for drunk driving on that road

Wow that is horrible.  We have some awful drivers here in Seattle.  Sheesh

  • WSB May 19, 2023 (11:54 am)

Just updated the story – we went over to check on them, and they’re open, also VERY busy so we couldn’t get close enough to ask if they need any community help (we’ll try back later in the day when we can). So good news, the crash didn’t shut them down. – TR

Glad the truck took a lickin and kept on tickin!  We will be down with others to show continued support and enjoy all the awesomeness that they provide.

  • Admiral May 19, 2023 (3:47 pm)

Yes another idiot driver by leaving the site a minor fender bender is now a felony hit and run.  I hope the perp is caught and made accountable, in particular pay for the damages!

  • Jeremy Dwyer May 20, 2023 (11:28 am)

This is my favorite place. Best tacos in Seattle. Glad all is well and they’re back open.

  • Erik May 20, 2023 (9:49 pm)

Glad to hear everyone is alright and they were busy so late. They have amazing food!

Sorry, comment time is over.
