UPDATE: Collision at 9th/Henderson

2:28 PM: Police and fire have responded to a collision at 9th/Henderson, by Westcrest Park. It’s reported as a pedestrian hit by a driver. Police have told dispatch that westbound Henderson is blocked at 9th. No information yet on how seriously the victim was hurt.

2:36 PM: The medic unit and one of the two engines have been dismissed from the call, which indicates no major injuries, but we’ll be following up with SFD.

8:10 PM: SFD says a 34-year-old man was taken to the hospital by private ambulance, in stable condition when transported.

    Slow down people. Please just slow down. That extra 5 mph and seconds making a right at a stop aren’t going to get you anywhere after in life, so why risk the medical bills of a pedestrian? Not saying speed is at fault here, but given the news from the car flip the night earlier, wouldn’t be a surprise.

    I highly appreciate that WSB does not call these “accidents”. Thank you for that.

    I’ve emailed SDOT for years about striping the intersection at that 4-way stop. The intersection is wide and leads from Westcrest. Hope the pedestrian is okay.

    I walked by right after this happened, I hope he’s ok. At night people don’t even pretend to stop at this intersection anymore. I was really surprised when the city put in road improvements last year that crosswalks here weren’t included.
