UPDATE: Suspected stolen car in crash at 26th/Roxbury

5:04 PM: Thanks to Mel for the tip. Two-car collision. Possibly complicating matters, initial radio exchanges indicate one car is reported to be plateless and its occupants are reported to have bolted. Avoid the area for a while.

(Added, WSB photo)

5:56 PM: Only one car remains at the scene, the Hyundai Elantra Sonata whose occupant(s) ran. Police confirmed to us that the car is believed to have been stolen and believed to be linked to a robbery in North Delridge earlier in the afternoon.

We were on Genesse / Avalon and 2 cars were swerving in and out and running red light about 4:45pm ish.  They headed south on Fauntleroy.  One was dark blue Hyundai.  Other one looked like a light colored Hyundai but couldn’t see the logo.  Brought cars to a stop both ways as folks were trying to avoid them/get clear.  Curious if it was them. Hope no one was seriously hurt.

Hyundai sedans are stolen and used in violent crimes at an alarming rate all over our region. If one drives around the area a lot it’s not uncommon to see one without plates whiz by.

You are right.  I know an orangetheory instructor in mercer island whose Hyundai Elantra was stolen last night in Auburn.  She told me there are tik tok videos on how to steal these cars because it’s so easy. What’s this world coming to?

Do we know more about the robbery in North Delridge?  Is this the same Blue Hyundai that was reported stolen in south West Seattle and commented to be parked at the Bartell’s headquarters – posted in the Blog a day or two ago?  I would be interested in hearing how this all progressed if connected.

No, it’s not that car – we updated the stolen-car story earlier in the day noting that it had been found (thanks to a reader), and as corrected above, the car last night turned out to be a Sonata, not an Elantra. As for the Delridge robbery, no other info but I’m requesting it from SPD – TR

Sorry, comment time is over.
