WEST SEATTLE ART: New mural in Admiral

Thanks to Alex Garcia from Admiral Pub for sending word of that new mural, painted on the alley side of the building the pub shares with Yen Wor Village. The artist is in the photo – Stevie Shao, hailed here last year as “Seattle’s breakout muralist.”

I saw this suddenly yesterday from our balcony and was very surprised. Much nicer to look at.

Wonderful news! That’s the fifth mural to land in North Admiral within the year. The other four include: the fronts of Mission Cantina and Dog City, and the alleys along Benbow Room and Wiseman’s Appliance. There’s at least two more murals nearby that I can think of: the sharp graffiti on the back of Arthur’s and the ship hammock near Good Society! And while we’re on the subject, I’ve always admired the murals inside the Admiral Theater.

Amazing art! I’m an artist too (currently showing paintings at the West Seattle Caffé Ladro!) and I really have to admire the time, talent, and dedication it took to paint this mural. Way to go, Stevie!

Fantastic!  Thank you Stevie!  More murals everywhere, please. They bring joy to the community. I wish it was more visible, but I will just have to walk down the alley more now!  I wouldn’t have known about it if it weren’t for this news coverage!
