All three of them are GREAT!  đźĄł

That first one is great. Liked seeing all the designs in the past, here was mine:

Too bad that one wasn’t one we could choose – IMHO it’s better than the others!

I vote for yours, Coffeeallday. We were never not united with the rest of the city. We had plenty of options, the Water Taxi, public transportation, walking, wheeling. Trying to get around by car could be a pain, but that doesn’t mean we were cut off. Plenty of tourists are still coming to Alki. The pandemic may have divided us because businesses and cultural events were closed down, but thankfully that is over. I think the three finalist designs missed the point.

Really nice work! I would have chosen your illustration too.

I really like this design! I may as well post mine too, which I realized didn’t have much of a chance, but I had fun with it:

Thanks to everyone sharing their entries, fun to see those too!

Love it because it includes all of us in west Seattle

    • M May 9, 2022 (12:23 pm)

      Love this one.

  • Tina May 6, 2022 (8:52 pm)

I voted for Surreal.  I like the band-aid.

  • WSCurmudgeon May 6, 2022 (9:27 pm)

    đź‘Ť  I vote for yours!

    • WSCurmudgeon May 6, 2022 (9:54 pm)

      I.e., CoffeeAllDay’s.

  • junctioneer May 6, 2022 (9:56 pm)

I can’t vote, it says I already have. Is this a personal survey link or is the site just broken for me?

    • WSB May 6, 2022 (11:39 pm)

It’s a form service the Junction Association often uses – the link was sent by the organizing coalition.

Please – just open the bridge already…

If as much time went into fixing the bridge as is going into this cockamamie “party”, we’d already be using it.

Let’s go. Knock off the platitudes – lets get wheels on the bridge!!

    • WSB May 6, 2022 (11:38 pm)

As explained previously, repeatedly, the people planning the party have nothing to do with the people fixing the bridge. These are local business and community-group people. SDOT and its contractors are the people working on the bridge and have no involvement with the celebration planning. Also, any event on the bridge will be held before it’s ready to open.

      • 935 May 7, 2022 (8:24 am)

WSB – Thank you, however – I already know this. I have been following your installments.

MY post(s) about this “party” and the ridiculous nature of it are a commentary on the overall delay. Ridiculous that we have all waited SO long for repairs – that should NOT have been needed in the first place.

As you are aware, the high bridge is the main route to commerce (and lifestyle) in west Seattle. How it was allowed to fall into disrepair and eventual shut down and then take two and a half YEARS for repair needs to be investigated (reported on) and prosecuted. It’s not a joke and people have lost businesses and lives.

As I’ve said before. Put streamers up. Burn effigies and sacrifice to the holy SDOT if you want. Just OPEN the darn thing already.

          Preach brother!  Agree 100%

  • Thd3 May 6, 2022 (10:24 pm)

I vote you party on marginal way all you want – once the ws bridge is open to cars including mine  – isn’t the party us being able to get where we need to go 45 minutes quicker after 2 plus years?

Entry 4 Wish: “Reunited and It’s Not So Good.”Selfish in the extreme, I understand, and I am ashamed, but not that much.Aside from my and everyone else’s terrible commutes and the dangerous few times when 2 out of three bridges out of WS were blocked and/or West Marginal, I have thoroughly enjoyed being an “accidental island.” I’m not looking forward to our “reconnectedness” at all.  Another miserable summer to come, after two years of blissful peace and quiet…And, oh yeah, I’m a renter, not rich.  I can barely afford rent, but cannot afford to buy in all of WS.
    Let the hate replies begin…

  • Paulie May 7, 2022 (5:50 am)

Pelican, I hear you as a renter when I read through this blog and the level of shaming over money that goes on is ridiculous.

  • Donn May 7, 2022 (9:43 am)

After living on Roxbury for the years that the bridge was closed, we got too sick due to the vehicle exhaust and were forced to leave.

  • zark00 May 7, 2022 (4:00 pm)

Party is a stupid idea. We don’t throw parties when people just show up and do the job they were hired to do. SDOT has barely done the job they were hired to do and people want to throw a party to celebrate it? Open the bridge with no fanfare, just a simple, direct, apology from SDOT.

    • K May 7, 2022 (5:13 pm)

What are you talking about?  People throw parties every year for birthdays.  All you need to do to have a birthday is EXIST for a year.  Work places throw “work anniversary” parties all the time for people who just show up and do the job they were hired to do.  Is it so wrong to celebrate something positive?  SDoT is neither the host nor the recipient of the party.  Honest to goodness, what is wrong with everyone that they’re so angry about other people expressing joy?  Just because you hate fun doesn’t mean everyone else in West Seattle has to sit and be miserable with you.

Coffeeallday; I really like your entry and what it conveys.  I would have chosen your design.  Keep on creating!

  • Pike Power May 8, 2022 (7:26 am)

I certainly hope our city leaders aren’t proud of the way they fumbled critical transportation means for 2+ years straight.

  • drd May 8, 2022 (11:47 am)

These are and should be called illustrations.  These are not works of art.  ~~~I like number 1 most.

    • k May 9, 2022 (8:54 am)

Wow that’s mean.  These are works of art.  Illustrations can be art.

  • Con May 9, 2022 (1:11 am)

Down to 3, #1 hits the Seattle vibe before the bridge repair started.  Wavy, friendly people.  With the bridge under repair,  lots of road rage meanness in Marginal and Roxbury.  Band-aid looks like the bridge that fixes people’s attitudes toward others.  Love the shrooms and the cherry on top. Sexy Seattle not uptight.

Sorry, comment time is over.
