WEEKEND TRAFFIC ALERT: Repaving planned for rutted section of SW 106th

SW 106th east of 35th SW is one of the stretches of road we’ve featured in this week’s post-storm pothole alerts as part of our first-thing-in-the-morning traffic watches. Good news for those who use that road – SDOT has announced plans to repave two blocks this weekend – here’s the alert:

On Saturday and Sunday, we will be repaving two blocks of SW 106th St between Seola Beach Drive and 32nd Ave SW. [map] We’ll begin this work as early as 7 AM and expect to be done by 3 PM. If you are driving on SW 106th St during this work, impacts include single lane reductions. Please anticipate traffic delays. We do not expect impacts for people walking and biking in the area.

Thanks for the heads up. I’d love it if 26th Ave SW between Roxbury and 106th/107th could get a look (I know the county is responsible, not SDOT since it’s in the unincorporated area).

Hope they will get to SW 106th and 39th Ave SW – there is a massive pot hole marked with cones and a barricade pushing eastbound drivers into the westbound lane of 106….at least the intersection is a 4 way stop so most drivers should be approaching at a lower speed.

I went by it last night only someone had put a cone more in the middle of the street to divide the on-coming traffic. Only problem only small cars could get thru. The Bus Heading E had to fully come into the On Coming Traffic lane as it could not squeeze past the cone on one side and the pitted out road on the other with cones. Glad they will be fixing it this weekend as it is a wicked drive right now.

While they’re at 39th Ave SW and SW 106th, they could also take a look at the results of the quality job they did on 39th. They laid new electrical lines but failed to pave all the way to the existing curb, leaving water rutted gravel between the street and curb. I’ve seen much better work in 3rd world countries.
