WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Prowler tries to steal scooter

From Matt in North Admiral:

This individual was prowling our alley this afternoon between noon and 1. He walked up and down for about an hour; my neighbor caught him peering in their back door and confronted him. He then went to my house and tried to start my scooter. Eventually another neighbor confronted him again and he claimed to be trying to buy the scooter, then walked off.

A police report has been filed.

I saw this man walking on our street (45th Avenue SW) before noon today with a Crate & Barrel bag.  He kept looking around suspiciously and I saw him exit west on Walker Street.  I circled around the block because I was concerned about his behavior.  In this video he has what appears to be a Crate & Barrel paper bag.

I caught the same guy eyeing a package on my stoop. Said he was new to the area and checking out the houses. This was around 11:45am Saturday. Description; black man probably in his 40s, baggy blue jeans, black puffy jacket, sunglasses and yes carrying white paper bag. He disappeared so I assumed he drove away. Glad he didn’t get your scooter!

So sad to see, everyday crime dominates the news As Carmen Best said in her editorial recently. The city has no plans to deal with the rising crime.

There is a motorcycle lock that locks onto the front disc rendering immobile. A deterrent at least.

I saw this same person later in the afternoon, like 2:30 or so, in the alley between 56th and 57th, between Lander and Alki. Same description, including Crate & Barrel bag.

Sorry, comment time is over.
