I agree. Get ready to watch inslee move the goal posts again.

The fact that the case fatality rate has fallen to a 14 day average of .2%,  an 8-fold reduction from the peak, is very encouraging, though.

It’s good that fewer people are dying from COVID, but an increase in hospitalizations still strains the health care system such that people become increasingly more likely to die from other things due to delayed care.  More cases also create more opportunities for mutations, and there’s no telling which mutation will be deadlier, or that vaccines will be ineffective against.  We should be striving to reduce all metrics, not just deaths.

Covid-19 now poses roughly the same mortality risk to King County residents as does influenza. Whether this is because of better therapeutics, earlier detection, younger less sick patients, this is a very significant and positive milestone that should be cheered in the grueling war against Covid-19; no one is arguing that we should let our guard down.

_Even though they were never hospitalized, they still have a much greater risk of dying within six months compared to people who were never infected._ Death during infection is not the only metric that should be affecting your behavior during the pandemic.https://t.co/zCWtAt8ECt

Before creating panic, it is important to note that this  study looked at patients within the VA system and as the authors admit, may not be representative of the population as a whole.
