VACCINATION: City’s West Seattle hub now open to all walk-ups, appointments not required. Also – an evening opportunity

12:10 PM: Thanks for the tips! We’ve confirmed with the mayor’s office that the West Seattle vaccination hub is now open to ALL walk-ups, not just a certain age (aside from the 16+ minimum). Spokesperson Kelsey Nyland tells WSB that appointments are still advised to guarantee your shot (first or second), but until further notice, they’re not required any more. The hub is on the south side of the parking lot at Nino Cantu Southwest Athletic Complex, 2801 SW Thistle – look for the driveway just east of the Southwest Pool/Teen Life Center building. The hub is currently Mondays-Saturdays, ~9 am-4:30 pm.

ADDED 12:33 PM: And if those hours don’t work for you, the city just announced they’re giving evening hours a try. This Wednesday (May 5th), the West Seattle hub will offer vaccinations until 7:30 pm. The city says, “If appointments are high, SFD will expand this pilot.” (The Seattle Fire Department runs the WS hub.)

That’s great news !!! Hopefully everyone who can get vaccinated, will get vaccinated!

The reason they switched to walk-ups with no appointment is because demand dropped off. So everyone who can get vaccinated is choosing not to get vaccinated which leaves all of this capacity open.

I feel for the ones who looked for days to book an appt.  So glad to finally see this. Everyone can get a shot now.

It would be really exciting if West Seattle became a model for getting enough people vaccinated to reach herd immunity!

i just went, there was no line and it was very easy and pleasant. They said to spread the word they have plenty of capacity.

Any idea if they are giving Pfizer or Moderna, and if we can get our second vax there if we got first somewhere else?

    • WSB April 30, 2021 (3:37 pm)

Reportedly both, and yes, the city’s been offering second shots, though appointments (see link above) might be optimal in a case like that so you know for sure it’s the second dose of the vaccine you need – TR

Lumin Field is taking walk-in after 2 pm today! Lots of Pfizer supply, so easy peasy, very short waits! See you here!

I got my second shot at the SW complex and it was far more efficient than the box store/pharmacy I got my 1st one at (and was unable to reasonably schedule the second).  FYI The weekend line was sooo long last Saturday!  So I rescheduled to Monday and didn’t wait at all.

Saturday it was packed! Looked like a hundred people in the rain waiting. Not an umbrella in sight. Went back Thursday with my son, nobody in line and walked right up.

I just got my Fauci ouchy, I hope everyone else can do the same. We are all in this together! Trust the science!

I received my first vaccine in Poulsbo and need to return next Saturday for my 2nd. The ferry lines were an atrocious 3 hour wait. I believe I read recently you can receive your second in Seattle even if you didn’t receive your first here. Does anyone have info on making that appt?

    • WSB April 30, 2021 (5:48 pm)

Yes, and as noted above, the link is in this story (click “second”).

For those wanting a less crowded vaccine site than the WS Hub, NeighborCare Health at High Point is providing Moderna vaccines for free to all walk-ups until 4pm today 5/1. Must be 18 or older.

Sorry, comment time is over.
