VACCINATION: Limited West Seattle clinic announced for Friday and Saturday

Thanks to Ann for the tip: The city and UW Medicine are having a COVID-19 vaccination clinic in West Seattle next Friday and Saturday (February 26-27). She just forwarded the announcement, which says in part:

This Friday and Saturday, the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) will administer the first dose of the Moderna vaccine to roughly 600 eligible people ages 65 and older who live in the West Seattle and South Park area. While supply remains constrained, SFD will focus its limited doses on older adults who live in areas that have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 virus.

The clinic will be held at the city’s testing site, in the Southwest Athletic Complex parking lot at 2801 SW Thistle. Appointment required; here’s the link in the announcement. We have no way of knowing how many spots remain, but if you’re eligible, good luck.

Thank you for sharing WSB!!! It might sound crazy, but I am a working RN who has been struggling to find any available vaccines for months. I got an appointment right away :)

Well, thanks go to Ann for sending word … all I did was type fast. And thanks to you for your health-care work!

  • LyndaB February 21, 2021 (8:34 pm)

Glad to see it happen here for WS!

Thanks, Tracy! I just sent this to two West Seattle friends who got appointments! My husband and I just got our second doses, which we booked the first day 65 and over were eligible, because I read about it on the blog that morning. Your timely notices, complete with links to register, have helped us navigate a tricky system.

BINGO!  Thank you Ann and WSB!  As of 9:00 PM, there are ample spaces still available.

Thanks so much Tracy!  The link initially worked on my IPad but when it got down to the finishing pages the IPad stalled.  I finally went to my desktop computer and it all worked! I have the two appointments.  So glad we don’t have to leave West Seattle.

Thanks WSB for helping getting the word out. It is about time there is some effort to support WS.

  • PattyM February 21, 2021 (9:27 pm)

Thank you Ann!  My husband is on 8 waitlists. Spends 40 minutes every morning checking all the sites….nothing. A friend saw this post, called us, my husband has an appointment!

  • Alison February 21, 2021 (9:28 pm)

I just received two text messages telling me that I have an appointment scheduled on February 26th and the second for March 26th. But I am not eligible yet and I didn’t sign up for one. I can’t find a phone number anywhere to tell them of this error. I responded back to the text message, but wondering if it’s an automatic message that no one will see. Has anyone seen a phone number associated with the clinic?

Alison, On the email there is a cancel option.

  • Chris February 21, 2021 (9:38 pm)

My friend went to a Fire Department Clinic for first shot.   She received no instructions on how to obtain the second shot.   How does she?   Thank you.

    • vaccinated! February 22, 2021 (11:11 am)

They will likely reach back out to her for her second shot. That’s what they did for me.

  • David February 21, 2021 (10:03 pm)

Thank you for posting this! I got an appointment right away.

This is Ann & I was the original tipster & just wanted to say I am absolutely thrilled WSB’s post is helping folks snag appointments! This is why I love WSB and our community…reaching out and helping one another!!!!!!

    • Randy February 22, 2021 (8:34 am)

Ann – you are wonderful for alerting the community to this opportunity.  I rec’d my first shot Saturday, but sent your heads-up to a friend who has been struggling to get an appointment for his.  One hour later he sent a msg that he had scheduled both appointments.  It’s so kind of you to think of others.  Please accept my heartfelt thanks!

    • Jackie February 22, 2021 (12:29 pm)

  • Joshua's Mom February 21, 2021 (10:47 pm)

Thanks to Ann for sharing the tip and to Tracy for typing fast🧡After weeks of frustrating searching I got both doses scheduled easy peasy and 2 blocks from my house!  WOW!

  • Michele February 21, 2021 (10:48 pm)

I got a set of 2 appointments too… Thanks so much for the info! I’ve been trying other paths for the last month and had one appointment which had been canceled because the vaccine hadn’t been received.

  • WS resident February 21, 2021 (11:44 pm)

Yay, I booked 2 appointments for my Dad.  He made an appointment at Kaiser and wasn’t going to get in for the first vaccine until late March.  Now he can be fully vaccinated by late March!  Plus he doesn’t have to leave West Seattle now!

  • Melinda February 21, 2021 (11:46 pm)

THANK YOU West Seattle Blog!  I was beginning  to think I’d never find an appointment.  You folks are truly a public service.  Merci, Grazie, Gracias, Obrigado ad infinitum

  • K M February 21, 2021 (11:47 pm)

Thank you for posting this! I just nabbed an appointment for my 79 year-old mom. I’ve been checking all the various resources (like the rest of WA) obsessively, and coming up empty-handed. Really, THANK YOU!

  • Kat February 21, 2021 (11:47 pm)

Just made 2 appointments for my 90 year old Dad.  Thank you West Seattle Blog and Seattle Fire dept.

  • anonyme February 22, 2021 (7:07 am)

The Senior Center reached out and made appointments for me a couple of days ago.  Really grateful for their heads-up.  It would have meant months of waiting otherwise.

  • CarDriver February 22, 2021 (8:46 am)

Is 65 a hard date? My neighbor turns 65 in 11 weeks. Would she be turned away???

    • WSB February 22, 2021 (9:24 am)

The state’s current eligibility rules are 65 and up as of when you get vaccinated, not “65 as of a certain date.”

    • JES February 22, 2021 (11:07 am)

She could probably get on a waiting list somewhere else in a few weeks

  • Chris February 22, 2021 (11:22 am)

Thank you for this.    We tried to get our senior signed up and were too late as did not get a  confirmation.    His appt was cancelled at another clinic due to lack of vaccine.    We will just keep trying.

    • K M February 22, 2021 (1:46 pm)

You probably already know this, but thought it might be worth a mention: http://www.COVIDwa.com is aggregating all statewide availability, a huge relief (despite the lack of available appts at the moment). GOOD LUCK!

      • WSB February 22, 2021 (1:51 pm)

I’ve been checking it nightly before publishing the roundup and so far, for our area, it offers even less information than the state map did. When it appears to be of value, we’ll definitely mention it again. – TR

        • K M February 22, 2021 (4:18 pm)

I meant that for Chris! But I also am wholly unsurprised you’re on it. LONG LIVE TRACY & WSB!

  • Diane Tchakirides February 22, 2021 (11:32 am)

Thank you Ann and WSB! A friend called to tell me about the post last night and I immediately signed up for my two appointments. I’ve been trying for weeks to get the vaccine.

  • BJG February 22, 2021 (8:06 pm)

Sadly, calls came from Roxbury Safeway today cancelling all their vaccine appointments. My friend had been depending on hers, so was too late for this opportunity. The maddening part is hers was not just delayed, it was gone. “Start all over again and good luck.” There has to be a better way than this miserable competition. It’s been this way for months now. Too long!

  • Chris Kindem February 23, 2021 (12:20 pm)

Thank you so much for sending this information, Ann!  Unfortunately, I didn’t see it until now, so all of the spots are filled.  I will keep watching the blog, though, in case any more vaccinations become available in the future.   I am curious where you found out about the lead that you shared with the blog.  I would love to know what sites I should be monitoring to find out about available vaccines.  Thanks again for thinking of the community!

  • Diane Keck-Katona March 1, 2021 (9:24 pm)

I am looking for information on how to volunteer at the clinic, I am a former nurse and I could help. If you get any information around volunteering, please share!

Sorry, comment time is over.
