DELRIDGE PROJECT: This week’s major moves

(WSB photo, looking westward across Delridge at SW Thistle)

SDOT says this coming week will likely finally see some major work it’s been warning about for a while, as the repaving/utilities project preparing for the RapidRide H Line continues. Top of the list: The SW Thistle closure between Delridge and 20th; crews started working on the west side of Delridge/Thistle last week (as seen above) and are scheduled to move across the street as soon as tomorrow. That’s also the potential start date for the installation of vehicle-detecting looping at Delridge/Oregon. SDOT’s weekly bulletin says, “Traffic will be split around the planned roadway median during this work.” Other plans include paving at the bus stop on the west side of Delridge/SW Andover, the start of demolition between Puget Blvd SW and SW Brandon, the completion of paving between SW Willow and Croft Place SW, and the start of paving on the west side of Delridge between SW Henderson and 20th SW. This whole Delridge project has been a disaster, leaving the roads half finished has not only been dangerous but a pain in the neck for all of us commuters!  Shame on you City of Seattle!!!

I couldn’t agree with you more—and the timing with the WS bridge being closed is doubly disastrous.

I wonder why commuters don’t use 35th? It’s so much faster than delridge, has 4 lanes rather than 2, and doesn’t have all the schools or daycares along the road as well.

Yes, the Delridge project seems to dig holes and not fill them back up! The intersection at NE Orchard & Delridge is SO POTHOLED,cars will be ruining their tires,, axles, front ends if they aren’t filled in properly! This is a MAJOR commute route from WSea to reach 99! Shame on the construction!

Will the Delridge and Thistle intersection remain open during this work or it going to be closed as was mentioned at one time?

The intersection is not closing – Thistle east of it is.

With traffic being routed onto the new pavement, today was the first day I could make my entire bicycle commute on wonderful smooth concrete all the way down Delridge. Construction sure is a drag, but the nice smooth road we get at the end is pretty awesome!

Sorry, comment time is over.
