I’m so glad to see we haven’t forgotten about adult family homes. They are a huge chunk of elderly care here in Washington. People don’t realize that hospitals only serve a very tiny fragment of our sick, elderly, incapacitated, or dying population. So much wind has been spent on hospital and ICU capacity, but these other facilities are where the bulk of care happens. Many of the people in adult family homes are not mobile, and may not have had access to Covid testing. I was hoping they would be priority for vaccination, but the conversation has centered around hospitals. Are there any plans to expand vaccine outreach to adult family homes county or statewide?

King County’s recently announced vaccination initiative also included adult family homes.

I have a relative with schizo-affective disorder and co-morbidities living in a group home setting  just south of Seattle and she has already received her vaccination.   Hopefully this will be the case for everyone who wants it, soon.

The SFD have really stepped up during this pandemic. The test sites they run are efficient and a great resource for the community. Great to hear they are helping with mobile vaccine rollout as well!
