Any turkey sightings? I haven’t seen an update in awhile.  Also, someone come snap some pictures of the eagles and hawks around Fauntleroy Playfield. At least once a week or so, I witness them flying off with a starling (since they’re invasive…not a big deal!). Poor young kid watched it and he was traumatized! Nature!

We’ve had lots of eagle photos :) will have more on the 4th if not sooner. Re: turkey, maybe tomorrow I’ll finally finally write the sad tale of how she seems to have flown the coop for good -last seen in Tukwila/Renton, weeks ago.

Have lived all around King County most of my life, and never seen an owl or owlet.  Live on Alki now. Where in WSeattle are photographers finding owls?

Pretty amazing, huh Nancy? I can attest that they are among us, as one late evening I looked out the window to see one myself. He/she was a lighter color than the laurel hedge behind him/her so at first I thought that it might be a possum crouched in the hedge. I quickly realized that instead it was a Barred Owl in the foreground, sitting atop my aluminum gate while on the hunt. I would say it was there for a couple of hours. Still looking for the Blue Herron, though I got six out of seven so far. Stay well Ms. Nancy, and keep an eye out. I’m guessing a nighttime laurel hedge as a backdrop is ideal camouflage among the dappled shadows and gaps.

They used to do owl walks in Schmitz Park!  I’ve never seen one either.

We have a pair of barred owls at my house & hear them call each other every night & day, never gets old.  I see them in the woods, they’ve landed on my deck, & I’ve watched them drink from the stream that runs thru our yard.  I literally have 100s of pictures & videos of them … enjoy!

Wonderful!  Lucky you. I’m hoping one day some swallows will nest here. Owls hanging out would be way cool.

On Thurs – amazing view of an Osprey fishing right off of the ferry dock. Wish I’d gotten a picture. Watching it hover & then dive was spectacular.

There have been Barred Owls in many locations in West Seattle over the years. Schmitz Park, Camp Long, Lincoln Park, etc. This year, a pair in Fauntleroy Park is raising one little owlet. It is growing fast and has lost most of those soft fuzzy baby feathers.

Blue bird spotted at Alki Point Lighthouse!

    • Parrot owner July 8, 2020 (4:04 pm)

Probably lost.  Must miss his/her owner.  Did you check any pet listings to see if someone is looking for their pet parrot?

I love these bird pictures.  The owls are spectacular!  So cool to see those in WS.  Thank you for sharing!  Keep them coming.
