DEVELOPMENT: Land-use approval for 32 townhouses on Harbor Avenue

(Rendering by Steve Fischer Architects)

Land-use approval has been granted for 32 townhouses planned along Harbor Avenue SW. Rather than one project, the townhouses – though next to each other – are in the system as four separate projects: Seven units at 3252 30th SW, nine units at 3315 Harbor SW, eight units at 3303 Harbor SW, and eight units at 3257 Harbor SW. The approval notices – linked to each of those individual addresses – open a two-week period in which appeals can be filed, deadline July 13th. The townhouses passed Design Review last September; here’s our report on the final meeting.

Dig it! Better than another storage facility in that spot. Would like to see the street here improved somehow though – always a little hairy with folks accessing Westside Bikes, coffee shop etc. from the north, no crosswalks provided except at the light. Pedestrianize it a bit overall, slow cars down.

Keep packing them into West Seattle, we need more density and commuters on Marginal Way!/s

I agree! Looking forward to see our virbrant community grow more, more folks means more successful businesses. Maybe as we grow in housing density we can make transit on that side of the hill more expansive. Great area to bike commute from too.

There are bus stops literally right in front of the proposed development. Harbor Ave SW & SW Spokane St.

I think until a bridge situation is figured out, the city should halt all new construction in West Seattle.  We cant even deal with the number of people already living here and bringing more people here will exacerbate the situation. City is so bad at planning/.

No. People need places to live.

There are over 400 places for rent in the area and who knows how many places for sale…there is no shortage of housing over here.

They’re going to have one hell of time selling these with the bridge now closed.

Not necessarily. Residences continue to sell. We’ve seen this in the neighborhood we walk in daily.

People are going to regret buying and moving in down here. I’ve lived in the grey condos for 15 years and the traffic, constant noise, deplorable parking situation gets worse every year. Constant noise from the Port that starts around 4am and don’t forget the emissions soot that has to get cleaned off your railings and decking twice a week. I’m going to be moving as soon as can now that this is happening and I’m over the bridge closure anyway. Good luck folks!

Sorry, comment time is over.
